Classification: Senior
Major: Spanish Education
Hometown: Marietta, Georgia
Katie Page is a senior majoring in
Spanish Education and has a minor in ESL. She is
graduating this month and is currently involved in the
student-teacher program, teaching high school in a
school system in Northwest Georgia.
Katie is one of four girls born to Karen and Carl
Stinehour. Karen works as a homemaker, and Carl is in
the insurance business.
Katie became aware of Lee University through her youth
group and came with them to visit on Lee Day. She
explains that she just knew it was where she was
supposed to be and has been happy during her time at
Lee. Katie said college was about “getting out on my own
and figuring out who I was.”
Katie has made many lasting friendships that have
influenced her greatly in a positive way. In addition to
the friendships she has developed over the years, Katie
explains that her teachers have impacted her as well.
Her advisor helped her find the balance between
studying, getting a full college experience, and most
importantly her walk with the Lord.
While at Lee, Katie has been a part of Sigma Delta Pi,
the Spanish honors society. She has been involved in
this group for over two years now. She also had the
opportunity to go to Chile on a Lee cross-cultural trip.
Katie explains that this trip had a great influence on
her. It helped confirm her aspirations to teach Spanish.
Katie was blessed to find her husband through a mutual
friend. It all started with a blind date. Jonathan Page
is the youth pastor at the church they attend. Katie
shares that she loves working in ministry especially
with that age group. “It makes you feel better knowing
that somebody cares about what’s going on,” she says,
hoping to offer that for the teenagers she comes in
contact with.
After graduation Katie plans to teach Spanish to English
speakers. She would love to continue working with high
school or middle school students.
