Caleb Peacock
Classification: Senior
Major: Business Administration & Accounting
Hometown: Morristown, TN
Caleb Peacock, a senior double-majoring in Business
Administration and Accounting and minoring in Finance,
always felt drawn to Lee. Originally from Morristown,
Tenn., the “preacher’s kid” was familiar with Cleveland
from a young age by attending Camp Meeting and visiting
friends in town.
“There’s always been something about Lee that made me
want to come here,” said Caleb. “So I graduated and took
a year off and then started at Lee.”
Caleb is so content in this area, in fact, that he wants
to stay in the area after he graduates. He and his
girlfriend are active in Miracle Deliverance Tabernacle
in Athens, Tenn., where Caleb leads a Bible study every
other Friday night for youth.
This passion for ministry will not be lost on a future
banker. Caleb’s father is a pastor but also maintains a
full-time job during the week as a furniture designer.
This example has made Caleb open to the possibility of a
career in ministry in the future without denying his
goal of going into banking.
His time at Lee is not spent totally in ministry,
however. Caleb is an active member of the Students in
Free Enterprise (SIFE) club and the Transfer Student
Leadership Council.
Caleb led a project for SIFE, which went to their
national competition this year, to market a local
chiropractor to campus. Under his leadership, the group
put up fliers on campus, made a power point for chapel
and stuffed mailboxes with information about the doctor.
The Transfer Student Leadership Council, which was begun
this past year, is attempting to organize a system for
transfer students similar to the Gateway program for
freshmen, which helps new students learn the ropes at
Lee. However, this program would not be compulsory and
would be more geared toward a social network.
“When I got here, my dorm chaplain gave me some great
advice. He said, ‘You don’t have to get involved with
everything, but find something you enjoy and do that,’”
said Caleb, who certainly has gotten involved on campus.
One of Caleb’s most memorable moments at Lee took place
on the trip to England, Scotland and Wales led by Dr.
Dewayne Thompson. “We were at a seaside town in Wales on
Saturday night and the whole town had shut down,” said
Caleb. “We were trying to think of something to do and
we just decided to have a worship service. We gathered
around the piano and it was just really powerful. We
stayed there, like two hours. It was awesome to
experience God in a totally different country, separated
from everything else.”
When Caleb graduates in May 2008, he hopes to pursue a
career in banking, possibly focusing in commercial
loans.
